Wonder what is causing a problem with an xBox 360 freeze? Are you ever in the middle of a game, using the guide or dashboard and have a screen freeze? Even though you don’t have an error message or see lights come on the console panel you probably have a problem. At some point you’re going to have to find   out what’s causing your xBox 360 Freeze.

Here are several things you can attempt :

Has your xbox 360 Freeze happened only once?
Maybe you DON’T have a problem if the freeze was an isolated event that only happened one time. However if the freeze occurred two times or more trouble could be brewing . If you turn the console off then back on and it appears to work then don’t be too concerned about it unless it happens again.

Can you go back to the Dashboard?
Using the Guide button on the controller check to see if you can exit the game and return to the Dashboard? Press Guide and then the Y button. If you can exit likely the trouble is an issue with the game and not the console.

A game disc could be your xBox 360 freeze problem
Try a music, game, or movie disc of the same type. Still have problems ? If not then the disc likely is the problem .

Examine the disc for dirt or damage
Use a soft cloth and clean the disc by softly wiping from the outside edge toward the center. Carefully grip the disc on the edges. Don’t touch the top or bottom surface. Don’t use any detergent, solvent or chemical to clean.

Could an accessory be your trouble
Turn your console off and disconnect all attached accessories as well as the Hard Drive. After that turn the console.

Is your xbox 360 console in a safe location ?
It is best to place your console on a solid or level surface where it can have enough air circulation. It needs to be in a dry, cool and ventilated area. Placed on a bed, sofa, or soft surface the ventilation openings are obstructed and that can cause trouble .

Protect it from sources of heat
Avoid placing the console near computers, monitors, televisions and other electronic devices.

Have a problem only when the Hard Drive is connected?
Clear the hard drive cache. After you clear the cache and that doesn’t fix  the problem make a new gamer profile. If the trouble is resolved with the new profile then the original profile or saved game from one or more games with the first profile was the trouble .

Have trouble with online games?
Try playing some games offline then again try to play xbox LIVE.

Is the game freeze problem only when you’re online?
If so the cause might be the internet connection. Install the game to the hard drive.

Having trouble playing a particular game disc?
If your xbox 360 console has a hard drive attached , install the game and attempt to play it again .
